Key Responsibilities for a Manager, Finance
The Manager, Finance will be responsible for a wide range of tasks critical to the success of the organisation. These include:
- Lead Financial Planning & Strategy: Develop and manage the annual budget and long-term financial plans.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate financial reports to donors, the board, and regulators.
- Accounting & Compliance: Oversee all accounting operations, payroll, audits, and compliance with FIRS, CAC, and PENCOM regulations.
- Internal Controls: Design and enforce policies to protect the organisation’s financial resources and assets.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other department heads to align budgets with program goals and timelines.
- Grant & Donor Management: Ensure full compliance with grant terms and donor guidelines. Prepare financial documents for proposals.
- Support Fundraising Efforts: Help fundraising teams with budget creation and monitor fund usage across programs.
Requirements for This Job
To succeed in this role, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. ICAN or ACCA certification is mandatory. An MBA is an added advantage.
- Work Experience: 5–7 years of progressive experience in finance, including at least 3 years in a leadership position within a nonprofit organisation.
- Specialised Knowledge: Strong understanding of NGO financial systems, donor reporting, and grant management (local and international).
- Skills: Leadership, coaching, problem-solving, excellent communication, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
