Job Summary
The Nutrition Officer will help implement the Resilience and Social Cohesion (Peace) project in Northeast Nigeria. This project is a joint effort by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF, funded by the German Government. The goal is to restore basic services, rebuild livelihoods, and improve peace and social unity.
The Nutrition Officer will:
- Monitor and support nutrition activities.
- Manage and train nutrition staff.
- Guide partners on nutrition policies and programs.
- Coordinate treatment for malnutrition (SAM and MAM) and promote infant and young child feeding practices.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management and Reporting
- Help manage and train the nutrition team on screening and distribution.
- Identify training needs for team members.
- Support recruitment and staff appraisals with HR.
Supervision, Monitoring, and Coordination
- Planing of daily activities for community mobilizers.
- Ensuring that nutrition data is accurate and reliable.
- Implementing infant feeding messaging and care group models.
- Reporting of challenges and suggest improvements.
- Assisting of partners in data collection and project evaluations.
- Representing CARE in nutrition-related meetings.
- Be ready to collaborate effectively within a fast paced and culturally diverse team setting..
Other Duties
- Supporting of resource mobilisation efforts.
- Carrying out other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
- University degree in Nursing, Biology, Nutrition, Public Health, or related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in nutrition, biology, food aid, or public health in an INGO or related sector.
- Fluent in English and Hausa.
Desired
- Experience in humanitarian or development organisations.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition and public health.
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
