Lafiya Programme Is Hiring Operations Assistants in Kaduna and Yobe – Apply Now

Are you based in Kaduna or Yobe State and looking for a job in the health and development sector? The Lafiya Programme, funded by the UK government and implemented by Palladium, is now recruiting Operations Assistants in Kaduna and Yobe.

If you have experience in office administration, logistics, or finance support, this is a great opportunity to work on meaningful projects that improve healthcare for women, children, and communities in Northern Nigeria.

About the Lafiya Programme

The Lafiya Programme, also known as “UK Support to Health Transformation in Nigeria”, is a major health initiative funded by the UK Government through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). It works in close partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria and selected northern states to strengthen the country’s health system. The programme’s core aim is to help more Nigerians — especially women, children, and young people — access quality health services without suffering financial hardship.

Lafiya is currently operational in five states: Kaduna, Yobe, Kano, Jigawa, and Borno, where it provides both technical and policy support to improve healthcare delivery. Initially broader in scope, the programme later refocused due to funding cuts, now concentrating on two key goals: reducing sickness and death among vulnerable groups, and improving Nigeria’s capacity to respond to public health emergencies like disease outbreaks.

Lafiya achieves its mission through five strategic pillars: strengthening leadership and accountability in health planning, building a more effective health workforce, promoting the use of quality data for better decision-making, improving health financing and budgeting, and supporting preparedness for health emergencies. A key focus of the programme is involving local communities in health-related discussions and decision-making, ensuring that health solutions are both relevant and sustainable. The programme is implemented by Palladium — a globally recognized development organization — alongside other technical partners. With its flexible, responsive approach, Lafiya supports long-term, system-wide health reforms and contributes significantly to Nigeria’s journey toward universal health coverage.

States covered by Lafiya:

  • Kaduna
  • Yobe
  • Kano
  • Jigawa
  • Borno

Main goals of the Lafiya Programme:

  • Reduce maternal and child deaths by improving access to quality healthcare
  • Promote family planning and reproductive health services
  • Strengthen health systems, including financing and human resources
  • Improve emergency health preparedness and response
  • Support community awareness and behavior change around health

Lafiya works closely with both government partners and local communities. It empowers citizens to participate in healthcare decisions and ensures that services reach the most vulnerable people. The programme not only addresses today’s health challenges but also aims to build a resilient, inclusive, and efficient health system for future generations.
