About the Role — What You will Do
The Field Assistant will help run health activities at Local Government Area (LGA), health facility, and household levels. You’ll work closely with:
- Health workers
- Community volunteers
- Local government teams
Your tasks will involve planning, tracking, and reporting health work. You’ll also make sure medicines and materials are delivered on time, and help collect correct data for monitoring.
You will report directly to the State Technical Officer and assist the finance team when needed.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Delivery & Field Supervision (70%)
- Support health activities such as SMC campaigns, planning meetings, and medicine distributions
- Mobilise community volunteers and assist in training events
- Track how medicines are used, and prevent stock-outs
- Supervise community health workers and ensure they do proper documentation
- Help review reports from LGAs and health workers for quality
- Inform your supervisor about any challenges in the field
- Visit homes and attend LGA meetings to support local health ownership
2. Data and Reporting (10%)
- Check and correct distributor tally sheets
- Enter data into reporting systems correctly
- Help the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer clean and verify data
- Submit reports on time to the project manager
3. Coordination and Teamwork (10%)
- Organise or attend planning meetings at LGA level
- Represent the program at local validation or data review sessions
- Share updates with health officials and partners
4. Admin & Support Work (10%)
- Create action plans for each health campaign
- Make sure health workers are stocked with supplies
- Help track how drugs and materials are used at the end of each cycle
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
Who Can Apply?
Minimum Requirements (Must Have):
- A Diploma in Public Health, Science, Nursing, Social Sciences, or similar
- At least 2 years experience in community or health work
- Speak English and Hausa fluently
- Experience in supply tracking, monitoring, and logistics
- Able to communicate clearly with government staff and community leaders
- Must be a Nigerian citizen
Extra Skills (Added Advantage):
- Experience in data collection or field training
- Familiar with local government health operations
- Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Team player with ability to handle pressure
- Experience in supportive supervision and use of health data
